Born of an unmarried Criolla woman in 17th century Mexico, Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz prevailed in becoming a respected philosopher and artist. She spoke against the abuses of the Catholic Church and Spanish government, and elevated the indigenous people. This made for some powerful enemies. Discover this fascinating woman: the Phoenix of Mexico.

Your ticket purchase supports local outreach: Elaine Scholly and LM Musicians travel on-location to assisted-living centers across DFW to introduce these educational and entertaining documentary films. The program concludes with a discussion, baroque instrument demonstration, mini-performance, and question and answer session.
